Memorial Day Fireworks
Ring in Big Bear Lake’s summer season with a spectacular fireworks display. The fireworks are launched from the lake near Pine Knot Marina. This allows the show to be viewed from nearly any shoreline spot and from many of the trails with lake views. The show will begin around 9pm or when the valley is completely dark. The local radio station KBHR will also host a patriotic musical accompaniment to the fireworks display available on 93.3 and 102.5 FM.
Big Bear Lake Grill & Chill BBQ Festival
BBQ masters from across the nation will bring their grill game for a KCBS State Championship and People’s Choice Award. Sample some of the best BBQ and craft beers around while enjoying live music, shopping, a kid’s zone, and more!

Boating on Big Bear Lake
Enjoy a different perspective of this stunning lake as you explore beaches, coves, inlets, and islands. If you don’t own a boat, you can rent one from one of the many marinas around the lake. Many outfitters also rent kayaks, wakeboards, and paddleboards for hours of “lake life” fun!
Hit the Trails
Big Bear boasts miles and miles of scenic hiking trails. There are too many to list, but here are some of our favorites:
Bear Lake Woodland Trail – Enjoy scenic views as you learn about local flora and fauna from the informational markers guiding you along this easy 1.5-mile family-friendly trail.
Bristlecone Road – Perfect for all skill levels, this 1.8-mile scenic loop is teaming with California wildlife. Keep your eyes open for a Bald Eagle sighting!
Castle Rock Trail – This moderately challenging, 2.7-mile out and back trail will reward your efforts with one of the best panoramic views of the Big Bear Lake Valley.
Champion Lodgepole Pine Trail – This trail is just over a half-mile long and will guide you to one of the tallest trees in all of Big Bear. At 110 feet tall, 6 feet wide, and more than 440 years old, this legendary tree is quite an impressive sight to see.
Get Hooked
Lake temperatures never get too hot in Big Bear, so the fish stay active even on the warmest of days, making this natural reservoir of water a great place to go fishing. The lake is filled with Bass, Carp, Crayfish, Rainbow Trout, and a variety of Sun Fish. Applying for an online fishing license is easy and convenient.
Prefer to cast a line from the shore? We love Boulder Bay Park with its large fishing dock, picnic area, and beautiful views. Fishing licenses and tackle can be purchased at any marina and many of the local shops.
